Chocolate Orange Scones

4th March 2021

Delicious homemade scones with dark chocolate chunks and zingy orange zest.

These scones are a real treat with a cup of tea in the afternoon. I love serving mine with some whipped orange & honey greek yogurt!

These scones are really simple to make and make eight warm scones to enjoy. They will keep for 3 days in air tight container too.

  • 225g self raising flour

  • 50g unsalted butter

  • Zest of 1 orange

  • 50g honey

  • 75ml fresh orange juice

  • 50ml unsweetened almond milk

  • 100g dark chocolate chips

  • Greek yogurt

  • Honey

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°c and line a large baking tray with parchment.
  • Add the self raising flour to a bowl, add the butter in small cubes to the bowl and rub together using your fingertips until fine breadcrumb texture.
  • Add the orange zest, honey, orange juice and milk to the bowl, mix with a spoon until just coming together, then use your hands to bring the dough together.
  • Add the chocolate chips and knead into the dough until evenly distributed.
  • Shape the dough into a large circular disc and place on the prepared baking tray.
  • Using a knife score the top of the dough into 8 even pieces. Then place in the oven to bake for 20-22 minutes. Until golden and cooked through.
  • Allow to cool a little then serve still slightly warm.
