Berry smoothie bowl

Now the weather is getting warmer I’ve been craving a refreshing breakfast. I love making one of these after a run, it’s the ideal refuel meal packing in lots of vitamins, carbs and protein.

Lets talk toppings, the possibilities are endless, I stuck to a simple combo of granola and strawberries on this bowl, purely because I’d just been for a run and was getting hangry! I kind of wish Id drizzled some peanut butter on their too for a dose of healthy fats.

The frozen banana is what creates the creamy base for this smoothie bowl. Then I decided to use a mix of blueberries and raspberries, but this can be switched up to any frozen fruit. I sometimes do mango and blueberry too.

You will require a high powdered food blender to blend everything into a thick consistency. The less the liquid the thicker the smoothie bowl, but not all blenders can cope with this. I blend everything together in my Nutri Ninja, it’s great for smoothie bowls and would definitely recommend!

I used a Barebells vanilla milkshake in this bowl, to add in a little protein and sweetness, but this can easily be subbed for any milk. If you do use milk, feel free to add in protein powders too!
