This is one of my favourite breakfasts to make when the sun is shining! I love the cookie dough flavour of this recipe. I used a salted caramel protein powder which adds flavour and creaminess, combined the the chocolate chips, melted white and dark chocolate and its cookie dough heaven. You’d argue that this recipe is a dessert!
This protein-packed overnight oats recipe combines one of my favourite combos: strawberries, bananas, and almond butter. It only takes a few ingredients to make plus there is absolutely ZERO cooking required! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Rolled oats: feel free to use gluten free tolled oats if you’d like. Rolled oats soak up the liquid from the milk and yogurt to get super creamy.
- Protein powder: the perfect way to give your overnight oats, flavour, sweetness and a protein hit! I used a salted caramel flavour one but vanilla would also work well.
- Chocolate chips: you’ll love the texture of some sprinkled chocolate chips- the perfect cookie dough addition. Feel free to use milk/dark or white chocolate chips.
- White & dark chocolate: Now the fun part the decoration. I love adding a swirl of melted dark and white chocolate to the top of my oats. It sets hard but I like breaking through it.
- Mini Cookies: These are a super cute addition, I found mini bags of Maryland cookies in my local supermarket!
Feel free to make a double batch of these cookie dough overnight oats and enjoy the perfect protein-packed breakfast all week long!
Customise your overnight oats:
Feel free to add different mix-ins to these cookie dough overnight oats like:
- Chia seeds
- Greek yogurt
- Peanut butter
- Flax seed
- Pumpkin/Sunflower seeds
Method:
How to make cookie dough overnight oats
- Combine dry ingredients. Add the oats and protein powder.
- Add the wet & refrigerate. Pour in the water and stir to combine. Spoon into a suitable glass jar or plastic containers, swirl in the chocolate chips then cover and place in fridge overnight.
- Top & enjoy! Once ready to serve, top with melted chocolate and mini cookies!
Do you have to cook overnight oats?
- Nope! The oats expand and ‘cook’ overnight as they soak up the liquid. It makes them super creamy.
How do I store overnight oats?
- The great part about this overnight oats recipe is that they’ll stay good in the refrigerator in an airtight container or mason jar for up to 5 days. This makes them perfect for prepping for a busy week ahead!
