A simple dairy free carrot cake porridge recipe. The perfect breakfast recipe
A simple way to spice up your plain porridge bowl, with just a few simple ingredients, you can make a tasty bowl of carrot cake oats, the perfect way to start your day.
The additional ingredients you will need to transform you oats are:
- Carrot
- Cinnamon
- Raisins
- Vanilla extract
This recipe really isn’t fancy, but it tastes amazing! Personally, you can’t beat the simple, no fuss recipes.
All you need to do is add those extra ingredients in to your usual oats and milk, then cook on the hob as usual- it really couldn’t be simpler! What porridge flavours do you love?
Carrot Cake Porridge

Ingredients
40g porridge oats
200ml unsweetened almond milk
30g carrot
15g raisins or sultanas
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp maple syrup
Tiny splash of vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Toppings-
50g yogurt
1 tbsp peanut butter
Directions
- Add the oats and milk to a small saucepan, using a small grater, grate the carrot into the pan and add the maple syrup, cinnamon, raisins, vanilla extract and salt. Cook over a medium/low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until thick and cooked to your liking.
- Once cooked, spoon into a suitable bowl and top with the yogurt and peanut butter and any additional toppings. I like to add some crushed walnuts and seeds too.
